Awesome Vendetta Mask
I know some people are leaving LJ for Facebook and Twitter but now with the awesome ability to cross post, made so easy an e-clueless person like me can do it, why not do it all?

I'm staying!!

Anybody else deciding to stay too?

I loathe both Facebook and Twitter, and thus shan't be making a switch from LJ to either. Too, I've occasionally considered just switching to Wordpress entirely, and using a plugin to update the LJ with the same posts :)

FB has its uses, it's where old schoolmates and family are, and a good place to post trivial things (links, videos, LOLs) that catch my eye.

As a consequence, LiveJournal is now more of a "Journal" where I want to write more thought-out stuff (not that I've done a whole lot of that lately, still I *want* to). Such rants and reflections will go here first, and might get posted as link or "note" on FB. And I like making the polls.

Twitter is very "of the moment" and most of my online time hasn't worked out where it's practical. So I have an account but only use it occasionally.

So yes, I'm "staying." After all, I'm paying for this site, and all things considered, I'm getting a lot of good out of it.

This.

Never...I'll go down with the ship. :)

I cross post like a mutha. No reason to leave LJ, and facebook is just another way to let people know my LJ is here! It's all good.

Kinda silly that so many people are jumping ship.

I use FB and Twitter, and post more frequently to them I suspect, but I post more substantially to LJ. I'm not leaving LJ though.

I did the "MySpaceBook" when it came out because a number of Chuck's friends were on it but found it about as substantive as notes passed by primary schoolgirls during class. I'll still with LJ and DW(the lightweight knockoff of LJ). At least there are folks there who aren't simply parroting...
Cheers,
Pat

I'm definitely staying. I kinda like the fact the FB has been peeling away some of the trivial stuff that used to infiltrate LJ. As some commenters have already stated, LJ is now being used for more meaningful or thoughtful entries. That's a good thing.

BTW, for redundancy, I post my journal entries BOTH on LJ and Blogger.com. Cut-n-paste makes this very easy and increases the number of friends/followers. If one or the other sites spontaneously combusts, I'm still in business.

It's definitely more substantive nowadays. Of course, those whose Self-Esteem requires lots of replies is going to be unhappy with today's LJ. Personally? My Ego can handle a few less "Me Too!", "Ditto",etc....
Cheers,
Pat

I'm staying away from Facebook, and I use Twitter very sparingly.

I'm still here. I'm on Facebook, but I don't like it much. Twitter scares me.
16th-Oct-2010 01:20 pm (UTC)
not leaving dammit...
16th-Oct-2010 02:57 pm (UTC)
I'm staying too. I don't get here as much as I used to, but when I really have something to say fb just doesn't cut it.

If you haven't seen "The Social Network" yet, then you will have missed the irony of Wossname using LiveJournal to post stuff at the very beginning of the movie. (I went to see it because I love Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the screenplay and was the reason I joined Facebook in the first place. I stayed to keep tabs on my kid, and then it became a way to talk to friends en masse and stay apprised of personal events)

I'm on LJ for the people.

I'm on Facebook for the games.

I don't have time for Twitter; I barely have time to have a life at this point.

i still read my LJ feed, but i don't post much right now. i also try to keep an eye on FB cause i have friends and relatives who post there, but most of my attention is with Twitter. i like it cause it's like posting in short, controlled bursts (LOL), and also functions like a chat where i can respond to several people at once.

A few of my Twitter friends and i like to have a sort-of "movie night" where we synchronize our DVD players and watch the same movie and comment on it on Twitter. That's kind of a fun thing, especially across time zones.

i'm not leaving LJ, i like it a lot, just lately i haven't had the energy to put together a post. And i'm in the middle of the busiest time of the year for me workwise, so for now i'll take the lazy way out and provide a link to artist Lisa Snellings' blog. She was here last week for the opening of an exhibit at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore featuring some of her kinetic sculpture, and while she was here i introduced her to the joy of DUCKPINS :-). Among other things.

I'm staying here, but I can tell people went missing. I don't paste to another blog, although I have a different one on Wordpress. I found it was easier here to meet people, than there. If LJ goes down, I'll start another Wordpress blog. I like how LJ was kind of private. I don't want my FB and LJ worlds to meet.

I like FB because there seems to be more frequent activity. I like the people and their thoughts & info on my FB friends list that I don't hide, lol. People seem to comment more there than here. I enjoy comments on my posts, which doesn't always happen here. But I'm stayin' ;-)

I am on FB, but I still journal and read here on LJ and as you know I started a new blog re life differences uk/usa! So, I am here. I want to be able to go back and read about what I post, I do update loads on FB because it is easier as I have a phone appl. AND it is different to what I would post here. Does that make sense?!
17th-Oct-2010 12:23 am (UTC)
I'll be here. Not posting much at the moment, but I'm still here.
17th-Oct-2010 01:00 am (UTC)
You'll pry lj out of my cold, dead hands!
18th-Oct-2010 03:25 am (UTC)
Eh, I'll be around. I don't really like facebook, but twitter has its uses. I've been on LJ since 2003 and seen people come and go; no reason for leaving now.
18th-Oct-2010 01:53 pm (UTC)
Staying. do not do twitter, facebook, myspace or anything else but dreamwidth.
19th-Oct-2010 04:51 pm (UTC) - Staying
My twitter keeps not letting my post anything, so I never go anymore.

My facebook, is for my 'social groups' mostly, and horrible for posting anything either.
29th-Oct-2010 07:18 pm (UTC)
LJ has been run by nasty people for some time. They've driven away many of the people I used to like to read. Their shoving Facebook links in my face and - worse - making it easy for someone accidentally or on purpose to reveal someone's LJ or locked post details on FB is the latest such thing.

If you want ease of crossposting, I understand DW makes it a snap. Personally I mainly just read here now. They took a good thing and hurt a lot of people in the course of running it into the ground and I sincerely regret that they still have jobs. DW hasn't hurt anyone yet, and so I hope people like you eventually move over there, whether or not you continue posting here too.
