Awesome Vendetta Mask
I tend to like movies that scare you but not necessarily are gross, gory movies. One of my favourites is Rebecca, with Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, George Sanders and Judith Anderson. This movie won the 1941 Best Picture award and it was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, whose movies deserve a Halloween Hall Of Fame Award. It's the story of this extremely wealthy widower (Laurence Olivier) who marries for a second time. (Joan Fontaine). The new wife doesn't have a name, she is just the Lady of the Manor at Mandorly. Rebecca was the name of the first wife. So, okay, you think, new wife, fresh start. Nope not in this case. Rebecca's presence hangs over the manor like a pea soup fog. You never see her ghost, but she seems to possess the head housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers (Judith Anderson) who is absolutely, positively obsessed with Rebecca. She plays major mindfuck games with the mousy second wife. Meanwhile, the more the movie goes on, the more you start suspecting that the Widower may have a very checkered past and maybe he was a widower by choice, if you know what I'm sayin.'
Also there is this weird dynamic with Rebecca's cousin (George Sanders) and you realize that Rebecca wasn't an innocent herself. The movie is like going down a dark hall with doors flying open and stuff popping out scaring the wits out of you.
Another movie I recommend by Hitchcock is Strangers On A Train This is the story about an obsessive guy who meets a man on a train and offers to swap murders with the man.

There is nobody on this planet who made the human race seem so oily, so creepy as Alfred Hitchcock. I would recommend Psycho, except that it's been done to death. (pardon the pun)

So what are your favourites for Halloween?
