So my hubby worked over the weekend at Copps Coliseum and he worked with several Americans who came with the show. They were a fearful bunch. Afraid of having an accident or getting sick because their company would not cover such a contingency.
One man worked all weekend with a broken foot, trying to wait it out until he could get back to the states and resume medical coverage.
Edit: this guy also has a collection agency from a hospital on his ass. Is it illegal to continue to harass him after 6 months.
They believed the bad press about Canadian healthcare. They believed that they would have to wait for hours or days to get seen, that they would have to pay up front and they didn't have enough money. One saw
Sicko, but was so beaten down psychically that he didn't want to comprehend what would happen if he got sick. One American said that Congress passed a law stating that declaring bankruptcy did not absolve people from their medical bills.
Is this a state law or a federal law? If this is a federal law than this is one of the most mean-spirited rotten laws that has come down the pike. When the Bush presidency is history and we have years of hindsight, I believe that we will find this presidency to be the most corrupt ever. Worse than Ulysses S. Grant. Far worse than Calvin Coolidge and Warren Harding. Bush makes Richard Nixon look like a straight arrow.
Ever wonder what is happening to the Americans who are losing their houses due to foreclosure?
They're reduced to living in Tent Cities. That's right. Whole families are winding up in rows and rows of tents. Many times they are working at Wal-Mart, but their meagre pay is not even covering the basics. The tent cities are springing up in Reno Nevada, Las Vegas, Las Angeles, Seattle, Chattanooga Tennessee, Columbus, Ohio and just about every where else. Here's a link to one of the stories:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/383895_nickelsville18.htmlHere's one of many pictures of tent cities showing up.

The compassion is at the grass roots level, not the Federal government level. Many municipalities haven't the heart to shoo them away and in Reno, they are more concerned with them freezing to death in the winter.
Here is a tent city in Reno.
While among the people whose homes have not been foreclosed upon yet, there is varying degrees of compassion. From a die hard blame the victim mentality to an uneasy "there but for the grace of the Gods, go I."
It is unbelievable that a man would work all weekend with a broken foot because he is too scared to get medical care. The lies the government and the AMA lobby tell the people are incredibly thorough from the lie that an American has to pay up front and more to the "inferiority" of Canadian drugs. I can tell you they are the same drugs that are circulated in the U.S. just not as expensive because-guess what--Canada doesn't allow drug advertising and salesmen are extremely limited on what samples they can leave in the doctor's offices. Just the drug samples, thank you very much. No trinkets. No pens, stress balls, keychains or stationery. The American system is extremely wasteful.
Interestingly enough, 100% of those workers expressed interest in moving to Canada once they discovered the truth. One is going to move to Vancouver to be with his girlfriend who got a job there. The others now have the wheels turning in their minds.
I expect that if McCain gets into office, there is going to be a sharp spike in Americans moving to Canada.
