I have not watched American news in over three weeks and I have not missed it. Not a bit. When I did catch a bit of CNN the other day, I felt like I was emotionally kneecapped.

Ole Hunter S. Thompson was right. After 9/11 America suffered a national nervous breakdown and has never recovered.

Now Americans have divided into extremes. Those who worry about everything and those who worry about nothing. Those overwrought, and those saying "whatever."

And all the while news shows are telling Americans that everything is an addiction. Sex, coffee, work, play, religion, food, exercise, driving. Every emotion above a complete flat-line is a syndrome.

And the reason is: because there are too many pharmacueticals that need to be sold. Too many lawyers, doctors, therapists and lawmakers who need the work.

We need to protect our phony-baloney jobs! Everybody give a harumph! Harumph, harumph, harumph!

Too much money in processing people through treatment or into jail. Your choice is to drug yourself or go to a psychiatrist and be drugged. Or go to jail and be drugged. What a choice, eh?

Canadian television has very little drug advertising. American television, every other ad is a drug ad. And during some shows every other ad is a personal injury lawyer ad for the specific lawsuit against a specific drug.
Isn't anybody getting tired of the tail-chasing circular motion American culture is going in? All that is missing is the Floosh!
