I went and did it. I went out and rented a copy of An Inconvenient Truth. I didn't want to believe it. I was in denial. No, we can't be experiencing global warming, this is some sort of cycle. Then they showed a scene that changed my mind. A scene of Greenland's ice caps getting deep fissures in it, and the edges visibly receding and showing rock that had been buried for millions of years. Then they showed Antarctica. Deep pooling of water in the glaciers there and before your eyes, an entire chunk of glacier the size of Rhode Island disappearing. On camera. More cracks in the glaciers. More disappearing, receding glaciers. Inconvertable truth.
And then they showed the co2 levels that are being emitted into the atmosphere. 800,000 years of data. Going off the charts even from the 19th century into the 20th.
But even if you don't believe it, the rest of the world does. You can see it in the car sales in the U.S. how the emissions standards don't meet anybody elses in the world. GM and Ford are feeling it in their wallets, experiencing plummeting sales. The emissions standards don't even meet Chinas!!
So natural cycles or man made, in Canada we're experiencing ice storms in January.
