| The Secret has become a machine. A money making machine for the producers of The Secret Empire. Now, thanks to the book, a movie is coming out, partly produced by Bob Proctor.
The problem is the naked greed behind the curtain is expressed in the Grandson of Bob Proctor.
Danny Proctor at 17 has a lofty goal: "to make a million dollars by the time I'm 20."
He's following in his grandfather's footsteps by creating other kids to sign up for Goal33, a motivational program designed by Granddad for kids between 10 and 19. 10 years old??!! Goal 33 costs $24.95 a month and consists of motivational tools such as MP3s, videos, blah de blah. So 10 year old kids are encouraged to spend $299.40 a year to help a kid get rich by him telling you how to get rich.
His grandfather meanwhile is putting together a program called Science of Getting Rich for a cool $2000.00.
Bob Proctor says "it's all about growth and fulfillment. Money is just the scorecard."
Yeah, sure it is.
The reviewer of this program, a Professor Ferrari, says "it shows promise, though in an ideal world you wouldn't have to pay for it."
Here's the ideal world: You keep the money for yourselves. You don't give it to these guys. They are no better than a megachurch. Because I can guarantee, like a megachurch, the money is only going to flow one way: up to these guys and you will be left with empty promises.
And new ways to for you to spend more money on themselves.
At the rate they are coming out with new stuff, they know it's not going to last before people catch on. But again I am going to tell you what the grandson of one of The Secret's founders is saying:
"to make a million dollars by the time I'm 20."
Nothing about improving the world. Nothing about giving back. Nothing about further goals and what else he wants to accomplish in his life. Just shallow, naked, extreme greed.
Note: this is not to shame anybody for buying the first book. You have hopes and dreams and this book is supposed to be inspirational. I thought, though that you should know what these people are thinking behind the scenes and how cynical they really are. They are like the children's show host who says accidently on mike: "well, that should take care of the little sons of bitches. THEY should be ashamed at themselves. |
